Biography
I have been involved in powerlifting since 2003, attending my first National Championship that year, and have been competing internationally since 2005. My brother, Ryan Fowler, got me into the sport, and I started training under his coach, Jeff Butt, who exemplified passion and dedication to the sport. Powerlifting has become an enormous part of my life, and I can’t imagine what my life would be without it.

I have competed at every CPU Nationals since 2003. My most noteable achievements are having won the 2022 World Games, winning IPF Equipped Open Worlds in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023, being one of only a few in the world to have won a sub-junior, junior and open IPF World Championship titles and being on the podium at Open World Championships multiple times as both a classic and equipped lifter.

What is your favourite lifting memory?
Competing in powerlifting for over 20 years has left me with countless memories, but there are a few that have to be at the top of the list.

The first would be winning IPF Junior Worlds in 2011 in my home town of Moose Jaw, with most of my family and friends there watching in person.  We hosted that championship, so the build up to it that summer was a lot, with the planning details, in addition to my own preparation for the event, and to win it in my last year as a junior made it that much sweeter.

My next favourite memory would be winning my first IPF Open World Championship in 2019 in Dubai.  Winning an Open World Championship was something that had been on my goal list for over 10 years, since placing second at IPF Open Worlds in 2008, so to finally achieve that was something extremely special.

What is one piece of advice you have for up and coming athletes getting into strength training or strength sport?
Just start. Don't worry about how your numbers compare to others, and just do what is best for you and see how strength training might change your life!

What is your favourite lift or event?
Equipped Bench Press

What is your favourite product and why?
13mm Belt
I love the adjustability of the belt and how it securely latches when it's sized properly!

What 3 other items are your go to and why?
Powerlifting Knee Sleeves
Weightlifting Knee Sleeves
Flexible Medium Wrist Wraps
The Powerlifting Knee Sleeves are great for competition and heavy training days, and provide the extra compression that helps me feel more confident going in to these lifts.

I love training in the weightlifting knee sleeves on a daily basis, as they go on easily without much effort, but still provide a lot of warmth and compression for the knees.

The Flexible Medium Wrist Wraps are my favourite as they're a versatile wrap that you can easily wrap more tightly or loose depending on your preferences.

What colourway is your favourite and why?
Phoenix
Phoenix is my favourite colourway because I love colour!

Why do you believe SBD is the gear all athletes should use?
SBD not only offers high quality products that support my training and competitions, but they also care about the manufacturing process and have chosen to keep that in house in Great Britain, which I think speaks very highly of the companies values, and they're also working to elevate the sport.

Why do you believe in working with SBD Canada as a Sponsored Athlete?Because of all that they're doing within the sport.
